K&F Show #138: The Beginning of the End: Dukes Review S5E1 “The New Dukes”

http://bit.ly/TMCP_Podcast_Survey

Holley is the official EFI source for Kibbe and Friends and is the PROUD sponsor of this episode! We need your help! We’re working with Holley on future things to do with the show….and we really need to know where you live and what you drive. Could you please fill out this super-duper easy four question survey for us? It would REALLY help move the ball forward for the future initiatives we have planned together. http://bit.ly/TMCP_Podcast_Survey

Thank you to BIG RED CAMARO for being a part of our show this week! Listeners….theres a hint in this episode that could win you a BIG RED Build Book! The answer is found on Page 101 of that book, in fact. Stay tuned to for a chance to win on our Instagram channel…..because the color of Big Red is the question. Hint: the car is PPG “Ultra Red”.

Dukes Review – Dammit. Well…we had to get here eventually. This is the episode where Bo and Luke are replaced by two very similar cousins, Coy and Vance. Why? Because money, that’s why. The merchandising rights of the show were Star-Wars-esque and every kid in the world had a lunch box with Bo, Luke, and the General front and center. John Schneider and Tom Wopat thought they deserved a little more coin for their likeness, Warner Bros disagreed, and a lawsuit war ensued that would (eventually) replace both actors for 19 episodes. Were those actors terrible human beings out to ruin all our lives? Of course not. But they weren’t Bo and Luke. And we wanted Bo and Luke. And Warner Brothers believed we would continue watching anyway because of the car, and continue buying toys, because of the car, and eventually we’d forget there was a Bo and Luke, because of the car.  Only we didn’t.  So, this launches a 19 episode run of Coy and Vance. The music is weird, dialogue is clumsy, and the stunts are awesome. Enjoy.

K&F Show #136: Holley Fuel Injection on General Lee’s and Finnegan’s Groundhog Day Review!

This episode presented by Holley! https://www.holley.com

K&F Fans – the Holley fuel injection install on Kibbe Lee is FINALLY happening! We’re recording this show in advance to get to work all week at Cody Young’s shop in Burleson, TX. It seems like we have been talking about this over and over forever, living the same day repeatedly. It’s also Groundhog’s Day (or was recently)…and there’s this great movie where they live the same day over and over again on Groundhog’s Day.

I think you know where this is going. Listen in for a full interview with Jeff Teel from Holley on the system we’re running on Kibbe Lee (and you can too), and a re-broadcast with Mike Finnegan on Episode 58 for the review of Groundhog Day! Also, be sure to listen to Episode 402 of the MuscleCar Place with Cody Young to discuss the upcoming install. https://themusclecarplace.com/tmcp-402-from-architecture-to-race-teams-to-hot-rods-cody-youngs-amazing-hot-rod-shop-journey-now-adding-holley-fuel-injection-to-the-kibbe-lee

Dukes Review: If there is any story that typifies the Dukes of Hazzard it’s the classic missed-mortgage payment leads to foreclosure situation. I think we’ve heard it before, I know we’ll hear it again, it’s even so classic it’s the basis of the first reunion movie in 1997. True story – Big time debt hater guru Dave Ramsey got his start before of this episode. (Note: not a true story.) Everything works out fine of course, even with actually bad guys…..but bad days are coming for us all….because this is the last episode of Season 4. The beginning of the end is at hand. The first of Season 5 will feature…..Coy and Vance. 8.5 Corndogs out of 10.

Dukes Review: Share and Share Alike. Hey hey – it’s our first show of 2020, here with the news and the Dukes reviews that you need most! This episode of the Dukes featured a Women’s Power theme called the Hazzard Equal Rights Society episode. Once again, the Dukes are ahead of their time, right? Lulu wears a Boss Hogg suit and shenanigans ensue. And…since any printed further summary would potentially now be an ethics violation, and since we have no desire to deal with that even a little bit, we’ll stop hear and encourage you to listen to the review. The General Lee is in it, so that’s good. Otherwise…meh.  Show Rating: 6 Corndogs

K&F Show #130: Christmas Specials, Swimsuits, and Carburetors – Dukes Review: S4E24 “Miss Tri Counties”

This episode is presented by returning sponsors Holley, Aluma Trailers, and Wyotech! Wanna do us a solid? Call them up and thank them for sponsoring the show. They’ll be blown away!

Dukes Review: Miss Tri Counties: The town of Hazzard hosts  a T&A beauty contest for women. By that I of course mean, Transmissions and Alternators. Seriously, the plot of this episode is a competition where the most impressive lady from each county competes by rebuilding carbs, racing cars, and then wearing swimsuits. It truly is heaven on earth. During the race Daisy takes the General from 3rd to 1st and just like the movie Ford vs Ferrari, during the race scene she stares down the bad guy (girl?) while passing her…which of course in real life would lead to an amazing accident. Bonus points for insanely awesome General Lee speed in this episode, in car footage of John Schneider really whipping 180’s, and Tom Wopat climbing out the window of the General at full tilt. When Paul Baxley directs, great things happen!

Patreon Peeps, the Nathan Warren line of custom made K&F Tumblers has gone international – but the best deal is still had by YOU! Just in time for Christmas, the KF Show tumblers are ready to go and you will receive the Patreon only discount of $15 on your purchase. Your price is $45 and retail is $60. K&F Show #129: The 2019 Thanksgiving Show Part 1 – Planes, Trains and Automobiles!

This episode is presented by returning sponsors Holley, Aluma Trailers, and Wyotech! For the love of Thanksgiving leftovers, please reach out to them and thank them for sponsoring the show. Even if you buy nothing, tell them how much you appreciate it. Companies like these are taking a gamble that shows like ours – and audiences like you – are worth the return. We know you are….but any reminder you can give them would be so very appreciated. You rock!

Movie Review: Planes, Trains, and Automobiles!

So here’s the thing – when it comes to a Thanksgiving themed highly quotable slapstick-yet-tearjerker movie to review there’s really only one that is worthy of doing so for: Planes, Trains & Automobiles. Let’s admit it – John Hughes plus Steve Martin plus John Candy equals perfection. And yes, before you even say it, we have reviewed this movie years before with Finnegan (Episode 51) in fact. And yes…it was so funny then that, like this movie, it’s worth a repeat of because it’s as timeless as it gets….plus the re-enactment of the “you play with your balls” scene was pretty epic!

Better yet….the entire second hour on Patreon (www.patreon.com/kfshow) does a deeper dive on the car, the quotes, the unaired plot points that explained so much more, and another movie re-enactment of the most famous scene in the movie. You know the one….those aren’t pillows!

Kick back and enjoy – and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Patreon Peeps, good news good news! First up ,the full second hour of this show is available to you in Patreon right now! Visit http:\\www.warrencustoms.com and tune in as soon as you wrap this one out.

Dukes Review: Bad Day in Hazzard
Believe it or not, but this is a legitimately good episode. It’s been a while, right? Even the General is acknowledged to have been damaged by smashing bad guys and is then repaired. It’s crazy town! Anyway, here’s the summary: bad guys come to Hazzard to pull of an “Oceans 11” style heist of an armored car delivering money to Boss Hogg’s bank. The Dukes later thwart the robbery. The end. Dang. Come to think of it, it’s hard to write up a compelling summary to this – but trust us – it’s good. Here’s a tidbit of info that was fun: Actor M.C. Gainey is in this episode as a background thug-bad-guy…which is not important at all…but that very same actor went on to portray Rosco P. Coltrane in the 2005 Dukes of Hazzard movie!

Patreon Peeps! Our September winner has been sent their prizes and now we’re ready to push into October loud and proud. Remember, once per month we record a “second hour” show just for the Patreon audience as well as a Q&A show as well – all for the Patreon crowd.

The future of Kibbe and Friends really is likely built around Patreon. Going forward, we know this is where we need to spend more time. Thank you SO MUCH to those of you who have joined in and also to those of you who have chosen to increase your contribution!
