Feature Segment

Wayne Davis is the owner of Colorado AMX Motorsports, and he’s got a thing for muscle cars, specifically those from AMC. He’s always loved Javelin’s, Rebel’s, and AMX’s, and after years of working in executive positions (including as a CEO for a large tech company) he decided that it was time to turn a corner and try something else. Today he owns and operates Colorado AMX Motorsport, an AMC only resto shop based near Denver. Wayne constructed his dream shop on his own property, and now his morning commute involves pouring a cup of coffee and walking out to the garage for “work.” To top it off, one of his grown sons works with him as well and it’s a proud papa’s dream come true.

In our interview we discussed both the “cool” factor of starting his own shop along with a great overview of the entire muscle car lineup from AMC. Since AMC’s are a rarer breed one would assume that knowing how and where to get parts is a tricky thing, but Wayne knows where to look. He’s also developed a Pro-Touring package on his ’72 Javelin that will be sure to turn heads at the track, as it’s pretty rare to see a Javelin in general, much less a Pro-Touring one!

Thanks for the interview, Wayne. best of luck to you and your son in this venture and I can’t wait to hear what happens next!

Final Segment – Jake on Cars

My buddy Jake Hanson is now a part of The MuscleCar Place, and he’s the star of the new segment called “Jake on Cars.” Jake is great with people and loves to grow businesses, but when it comes to cars (especially muscle cars)…..he’s definitely got a steep learning curve there. Follow along as we get him up to speed on why Posi rear ends are cool, Hemi’s rule, and why Grabber Blue is important.

  1. I have a 1980 AMC Spirit with a 258 six cylinder, that’s going to be rebuilt in the near future. I’m keeping the 258, and am going to build a pretty mean one. $200 for Comp Cams would help a lot…
