The Bluesmobile

The Blues Brothers

This K&F show features a plethora of both witty and banter, as well as both kinds of country music: country and western. Why, you ask? Because we reviewed the Blue Brothers instead of the Dukes this week. Luckily for us all, it still resulted in slap stick humor and flying Mopars with cop shocks, cop tires, and a 440 mill built before catalytic converters. Everything you need is in this movie: amazing blues music, zany 110 mph car chases, and sentences that always end in a one liner: 3 orange whips! Carrie Fischer is in this one too – and Jabba the Hut’s outfit had nothing on how she looks in this movie.

Insider Tidbits:

The Blues Brothers was a musical group before it was a musical skit for Saturday Night Live – and that’s where the band of Wille Hall, Donald Duck Dunn, Steve Cropper, Mr Fabulous, Matt Guitar Murphy, Blue Lou, and Bones Malone came together. The keyboard player was NOT Murph of Murph and the Magic Tones though…it was originally Paul Schaffer.

Dan Akroyd – Canadian – a gearhead, a former seminar student, and a lover of the blues. He introduced Belushi to all of it.

Dan Akryod save Carrie Fischer’s life on this movie and gave her the heilich when she was choking. They were later engaged.

John Belushi left the set one night and went to a guys house, ate food, and fell asleep on the couch.

John Belushi lost a billion pair sunglasses. He’d take them off after every scene and forget what he did with them.

There were 13 Bluemobiles – all ex California Highway Patrol cars

This movie set the record for most cars destroyed – for a while

The 100+ Mph scenes under the L tracks were real. Director John Landis feared people would think he had just sped up the film though, so he reshot it with stun people around so you could tell it was real. My buddy Pat’s dad was there on business and saw that scene!

In the original movie – and on the DVD – the Bluesmobile is alive. It’s parked under an electrical station at night and gets charged up spiritually somehow.

John Wayne’s son Ethan was a stunt driver in the film.

They had to do an FAA Unairworthiness test on the Pinto to prove that it wouldn’t turn into an airfoil and literally fly into the city of Chicago.

Shenanigans – O – Meter:

BOX OFFICE MOJO:
Worldwide: $115,229,890 – about 366 MILLION Today!

There’s a Dukes connection. Henry Gibson played the leader of the Illinois Nazis and has been a past guest star on the Dukes. He’s part of the singing troupe that kidnaps Loretta Lynne. Charles Napier is also in this movie as well as the Dukes. Charles drives the RV I believe. In the Dukes he kidnaps Boss Hogg.

Dream Board Update: Goals to Accomplish Before Episode 200

rob_ferrari_dietcokesponsorship
Coca Cola Corporation take note. This is how awesome sponsoring our show would be. Even when driving Ferrari F-430 race prepped track cars Kibbe can only think about how refreshing a Diet Coke would be.

1. Get Diet Coke to Sponsor us….or just Kibbe. FAILED

2. Be characters in the Disney/Pixar movie, Cars 3. Finnegan is the General. Kibbe…is wishing he was the General. FAILED.

3. Syndicate the show onto TV and radio, having awesome guests in studio, with Dale Earnhardt Jr. on regularly to be our best friend.

4. Get John Schneider himself on the show with us. Pray to God he actually likes us and isn’t freaked out. NOV 2017: THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN!

5. Blow up the podcast so that it becomes a regular weekly show, interviewing celebrities, and actually providing a living for us capable of allowing us to race cars anytime we want plus let our wives get the shoes they like.

6. Get our own studio.

7. We each get a General Lee (real car – not a toy). Kibbe has one!

8. Get a Voiceover Guy to announce the segments.

9. Jump a car together. Kibbe wants to go 30-feet vertical.

10. Make a Dream GL that is based off of a 1973 NASCAR Charger (like the 1/16th scale AMT model)

11. Kibbe needs a new wallet to replace his “George Costanza”.

12. Mike to get a new truck for legit towing. DONE!
