Kibbe in WGL76 – a real fricking General Lee!

Remember in the last show we told you that Rob was heading to Cooter’s Last Stand, and that he hoped to just see a real General Lee in person, and maybe buy a Charger? He didn’t buy a Charger, but not only did he see a real General….he got to DRIVE it!! No foolin’! Look for video of it on Finnegan’s Garage YouTube Page soon and on our Instagram or Facebook pages!

K&F Show Summary:

I’ll be honest. After driving a real General Lee it was tough to come down to reality to review a Dukes episode again, but we did it. With that established….this is the first time that a spinoff pilot TV show for the Dukes actually went forward.

In this episode the stage is set for Enos Strate, Hazzard’s only honest lawman, to depart on his own adventures. Boss fires him, some bad guys kidnap Daisy while she wears an alarmingly awesome tank top, Enos catches them, and then is hired by the LAPD to join them on his own TV series (something like that). He’ll be back though when that series flops. The General jumps onto the bad guys car. Hijinks ensue.

Corndog’s Super Insider Analysis:

Sonny Shroyer with Corndog’s script of “Enos!”

This episode starts off with a lot of recycled footage from previous episodes. First, we see one of the AMC Matador police cars being used. If you recall, in Season 1, the Veluzats got a good deal on a fleet of the AMC police cars. The stunt crew didn’t like them, so they quickly used them up. Then, at 2:24, when they show the General Lee driving into Atlanta…. this actually IS Atlanta. This footage was from S1 E2 “Daisy’s Song”.

2:51 – After the bank robbers leave the scene, they cut to the “Palace Theater” where “Hollywood Knights” is shown on the marquee along with “Rated R”. I thought this was odd because Hollywood Knights was produced by Columbia Pictures, and not Warner Brothers.

5:06 – When Bo and Luke come to the rescue of Daisy and Jesse in the pickup, if you look careful, you will see that the passenger quarter panel is crumpled quite a bit.

5:44 – If you can catch it quick enough, when the General Lee is ramming the back of the bad guy’s car, you can see a perfect example of a typical smashed center grille from the small pusher.

7:30 – Debut of Mrs. Tisdale

8:52 – Debut of Flash the dog. Rocco picked him up from the “Police Gazette”.

40:47 – When they jump the General Lee on top of the bad guy’s car… I always thought his was an impressive stunt.

A few years back, I was helping work a Dukes event in Louisiana and got to know Sonny Shroyer and his wife pretty well. I have a couple scripts from the spin-off series “Enos”, so I took one with me to be autographed. I sat with Sonny’s wife and waited for the line to die down a little, before asking him to sign it. While I was sitting there, his wife told me a little story about the spin-off series, and how smart he was in his negotiating skills. She said that the people at CBS approached him about doing a spin-off series. They talked it up and told him that he would no longer have a supporting role and would be the main character… and it was going to be a success.

At first, he declined the offer… because he didn’t think it would be a good idea. He had friends who accepted roles in a spin-off series, only for the series to flop, and their character was completely written out of the original series… or, the producers would not need the character in the original series. So when he agreed to do “Enos”, he had it written up in his contract that if the series ended, and the original series (Dukes of Hazzard) was still in production, he would be guaranteed a role back on the original series. Looks like he was pretty smart. “Enos” only lasted 1 season (22 episodes 1980-81)… and so, he made it back to Hazzard County. Attached is a picture of Sonny with my “Enos” script.

Dream Board Update: Goals to Accomplish Before Episode 200

rob_ferrari_dietcokesponsorship
Coca Cola Corporation take note. This is how awesome sponsoring our show would be. Even when driving Ferrari F-430 race prepped track cars Kibbe can only think about how refreshing a Diet Coke would be.

1. Get Diet Coke to Sponsor us….or just Kibbe.

2. Be characters in the Disney/Pixar movie, Cars 3. Finnegan is the General. Kibbe…is wishing he was the General.

3. Syndicate the show onto TV and radio, having awesome guests in studio, with Dale Earnhardt Jr. on regularly to be our best friend.

4. Get John Schneider himself on the show with us. Pray to God he actually likes us and isn’t freaked out.

5. Blow up the podcast so that it becomes a regular weekly show, interviewing celebrities, and actually providing a living for us capable of allowing us to race cars anytime we want plus let our wives get the shoes they like.

6. Get our own studio.

7. We each get a General Lee (real car – not a toy).

8. Get a Voiceover Guy to announce the segments.

9. Jump a car together. Kibbe wants to go 30-feet vertical.

10. Make a Dream GL that is based off of a 1973 NASCAR Charger (like the 1/16th scale AMT model)

11. Kibbe needs a new wallet to replace his “George Costanza”.

12. Mike to get a new truck for legit towing. DONE!
