FEATURE INTERVIEW

Tanner Fritz, V.P at MyClassicGarage.com

This week’s podcast show guest is Tanner Fritz, V.P. of Product Development for My Classic Garage. My Classic Garage is a relatively new company that is bridging the gap of people with classic car collections (or that would like one) to the cloud.

What’s the cloud, you ask? Well, basically, it’s the internet – or more specifically, the cloud is a place where you can securely store your information on a website, iPhone app, etc. and get to it from nearly anywhere (i.e. it doesn’t live on your computer), all with your own unique login.

As Tanner shared in the interview, people can sign up – for free – to My Classic Garage and post up the cars that they own, or (even better) the ones that they would LIKE to own. For the cars they own they can upload all of the insurance info, repair records, dates of shows that they’d like to attend, etc., and on the cars that they’d LIKE to have (which they call a Dream Car) you can go in and get all of the pertinent stats on them.

A snapshot of one of my dream cars from my "garage" at My Classic Garage.

Right now they are accessible via their website, myclassicgarage.com, and also via their slick iPad app. Tanner assures me that the service will always be free, and that customers will receive discounts on items that their partners have for sale as well (insurance, transport, engines, etc.).

The My Classic Garage Giveaway car - a super cool '79 Trans Am!

Better yet is that they’re running a contest right now to see how many people they can get to sign up for My Classic Garage by the end of the year, and the winner gets a blue on blue ’79 Trans Am! Be sure to look for them this weekend and the Louden NASCAR race as well. They’re #55 Michael Waltrip Racing Camry that will be piloted by Brian Vickers!

Thanks for the interview Tanner, and congrats on bringing our hobby into the 21st Century!

Welcome, Steele Rubber!

As announced previously, Steele Rubber has come on board the show as a segment sponsor, and this show is their very first one!

I’ve decided to rotate their segment sponsorship throughout the show to keep things fun and active, and in this particular show they sponsored the eBay Pick of the week, a 2006 GTO with an LS3 and a 6-Speed!

LISTENER E-MAIL

Kim and LuAnne Drinkwater

During the listener e-mail segment I shared an e-mail from Kim Drinkwater. Kim and his wife LuAnne recently purchased all of my old Chevelle Hotchkis suspension, rally wheels, tires, brakes, and steering components – all for their ’64 Chevelle SS! They decided to road-trip to Iowa (all the way from Maine) to pick up the parts in their 2004 Mini Cooper and (coincidentally) paid a trip to LuAnne’s sister who lives right here in Des Moines. What are the odds, right? On top of that they had the chance to hit the GoodGuys Heartland Nationals while they were out as well!

It’s always great to get to meet listeners in person, and both Kim and LuAnne were as nice as could be.  Here’s my thanks to both of them for helping me keep the Chevelle project rolling!
