FEATURE INTERVIEW:

SEMA Show 2019 #2
Five Interview Buffet !

JH Restorations – Tokyo Trans-Am

This weeks installment is the second LIVE from the show floor episodes from SEMA 2019. This year was not only epic as an overall show, but also epic in the number of interviews with the best-of-the-best in the industry that we were able to conduct! This second show features Kyle Tucker from Detroit Speed, Scott Bowers at the Ron Francis Wiring booth with Larry Callahan the Godfather of Pro-Touring, Jeff Teel from Holley Performance Products, and Kevin Huth and Jordan Henke from JH restorations with their “Tokyo Trans Am – my favorite car of the show!

Detroit Speed Camaro DSE-Z

Interview #1 : Kyle Tucker and Detroit Speed are a great bellwether for the industry and an indicator of things to come. Truck are hot and the square body Chevy’s are smoking. Detroit Speed now offers bolt in rear suspension kits that can be installed with very little cutting. They have also expanded their offerings by purchasing C&R Racing South and creating Gear FX. Kyle said they were always using their rear axle services so it just made sense to join forces and streamline the process while creating even more products for the end customer.

Interview #2 : I found Larry Callahan hanging out in the Ron Francis booth with Scott Bowers and talked about the latest offering in wiring products. Larry chimed in and gave his personal preference regarding Pro-Touring cars and if they are moving up into the 80’s. He loves his 60’s and 70’s cars and thinks the challenge is in making them handle like newer cars. Ron Francis wiring offers wiring kits that do fit late 70’s and 80’s vehicles and can handle any project you decide that you love. This years booth car is an amazing ’68 Barracuda from Garret’s Rod Shop

Interview #3 : Jeff Teel, Holley Performance Products. Jeff has been on the show before and is a regular stop at SEMA. Holley always has new offerings and this year was no exception with many fuel injection and ignition products. They are doubling down (literally) on the Sniper Stealth and is offering it in a 2×4 dual quad style setup for the look that everyone remembers and the power that these cars deserve. Holley Sniper Stealth is the official injection of the Kibbe Lee Charger! You can get more information Holley fuel injection systems at Holley.com or on Facebook.com/HolleyPerformance.

Interview #4 : Dave Salvaggio from SpeedKore and Mario from Gear Head Fabrications revealed yet another carbon fiber wonder and this time the fastest Demon Charger made. SpeedKore was approached by Dodge to make the car faster, lighter and (wait for it) capable as a Twin Turbo AWD model. They did it! This interview also featured a full discussion on the full carbon-fiber bodied Dodge Challenger in the Speedkore booth. My prediction: you will see one (or potentially both) of these cars in the next Fast and Furious movie.

Interview #5 : For the last interview of the day I met Kevin Huth, owner of the “Tokyo Trans Am” and Jordan Henke from JH Restorations in Windsor, Ontario Canada. I met Jordan and his brother Jesse last year as well – and did a feature interview on the Mustang they had brought. Kevin’s Celica couldn’t be any more different though….and it was my favorite car of the show, hands down! It featured an LS with a dual throttle body intake (painted in a way that looked Toyota-ish), 3d scanned engine compartment to create an entirely new front suspension system, an entirely newly designed rear suspension, QA1 shocks and carbon fiber driveshaft, bolt on wheel flares, “mini lite” style wheels, vintage inspired livery, a beautiful 70’s Toyota interview, and patina for miles. It literally looked like an old Trans Am car with some fresh rubber on it….and I loved it!

Stay Tuned, even MORE SEMA fun to come!
