This week’s featured interview guest was Scott Bowers from Ron Francis Wiring. Scott is the owner of the company and purchased it from Ron a few years back after working with him in the 1990′s. He later owned and operated the The Detail Zone.
Scott (and his company) are literally gurus in all things related to automotive electrics. They have a wide range of ready made wiring harnesses for nearly any application as well as the ability to create custom harnesses. Their harnesses comes as standard equipment in a couple of different Factory Five cars as well. In addition to that they have developed a massive number of electrical products for nearly any application one might need, ranging from clever things like a brighter burning taillight bulb to unique applications like a magnetic device that when mounted on a driveshaft can be used to send a signal to the speedomeeter! With the popularity of engine swaps as of late they have added the capability to do flash Engine Control Modules for various Ford and GM applications as well.
While Scott is the company president, Ron is still a big part of the company. Chances are that when you seek out customer support you’ll still hear from Ron himself!

As I mentioned in Episode 115 of the podcast, next week I’ll be heading down to Allison Customs in New Mexico to visit my Chevelle and also to hit the Barrett Jackson auction! I’m incredibly excited for both.
With regards to the Barrett Jackson trip, I mentioned last week that it’s my goal to see Lee 1, the very first General Lee ever. He’ll be running across the auction block while I’m there. My wife will kill me if I come home with that car…..but it just might be worth it. Other than the General I’m hoping to meet Rick Hendrick (Hendrick Motorsports), Craig Jackson (the ‘Jackson’ of Barrett-Jackson), and Mike Joy (superstar TV announcer). I’m bringing a few friends with me to attend the event and we’re going to make a huge 3000 mile road trip out of it. It could be the best, or worst, idea we’ve ever had.
On the Chevelle front, Jeff Allison has been faithfully transforming my ’64 Chevelle into a Pro-Touring monster, and while I’ve seen every picture he’s sent thus far I’m still really excited to see the car in person. The floor has been welded in, the rockers are in, and pretty soon the main hoop for the roll bar will go in! I’ll include a link to the Chevelle Build thread I have here (with plenty of pictures). Hopefully after the trip I’ll have plenty to add to it!
While it is our goal to debut the car at the 2012 Good Guys Heartland Nationals, I’m holding the process up a bit while seeking out additional sponsorship support for the car. The next steps are to get the seats chosen, a new collapsible steering column secured (so that I don’t get a column through the chest if I wad the car up), an AC and heating system, and then get the LS3 motor (and all of the fantastic doo-dads that go along with that) on the way to Jeff. It’s my goal to build this car from stem to stern without using any debt, and while I realize that may be a tall order, it’s something I must do.
