FEATURE SEGMENT

This week’s podcast show guest is Jeff Lacina, owner of Track Guys Racing School. Jeff has had a passion for being behind the wheel long before he ever had a driver’s license. He discovered autocrossing and road course racing at an early age as well, and found that track days and racing schools were something that he couldn’t get enough of. One thing led to another and he formed “Track Guys Performance Driving Events” will fell road course fanatic, Todd Zikas.

Jeff Lacina and his 2011 5.0 Mustang!

The unique aspect of Track Guys is that they set up weekend road course driving events that people can participate in in their own cars. Jeff stresses that getting instruction in the car that you’ll actually be racing in is nearly invaluable, but at the same time he’s happy to allow participants in any vehicle, as long as it doesn’t have a high center of gravity (such as a 4×4 truck, mini-van, etc.).

Events are held at tracks across the country over a weekend. The cost is fairly reasonable even for those that wish to attend both days of the event ($300-$400), and the driving instructors are certified. Students get ample classroom and track time, and Jeff assured me that after a full day if you’re not mentally and physically exhausted by the end of the day, he hadn’t done his job right. Their 2012 Class schedule is available on their website, www.trackguys.com.

Thanks for the interview, Jeff! Sounds like my kind of school!
