K&F Show #273: MOPARTY 2023 – Tony Angelo’s Flying 440!

Presented by Holley! This is a special edition of K&F and features a run down of everything we did at Holley Moparty 2023! Visit holley.com for more fun and details (and to shop for EFI!)

We came, we saw, we Mopartied! This event has become THE place for Mopar wackos with gather and enjoy all of the weirdness and greatness that Mopars bring. Its also a great place for people that love to thrash their cars on the dragstrip and autocross! We had a great time seeing and hanging out with listeners, as always. The only bummer of the whole trip is that it wasn’t long enough! We will feature several key interviews from the event on this week’s episode of The MuscleCar Place podcast.

This episode also features the one and only Tony Angelo. We all have known Tony’s escapades through his time with Motor Trend with Lucky Costa on Hot Rod Garage, and today he makes his living on his YouTube channel “StayTuned,” which you should subscribe to yesterday if you haven’t already.

He did make the event in his Dodge 440…..barely….and we were there to catch up and see what happened. We also learned from Tony just how badly Finnegan took the news when Corndog let him go from the podcast. No we feel worse. (Kibbe does. Corndog doesn’t. Bernie is indifferent, but happy to still not have to wear pants.)

K&F Show #258: The Masters and Adam Sandler’s ’74 Duster; Movie Review Revisit – Happy Gilmore!

Presented with Holley! It’s time to look forward to spring break. How about April 28-30 in Las Vegas at Holley LS Fest West?? If an LS based (or current generation LT V8) engine is powering your ride or if you are considering a swap to LS power, this is your event! Race cars, street rods, muscle cars, trucks, late models, drift cars, prerunners, Ultra 4 buggies – you name it, if it is powered by an LS/LT there will be something here for you! Just visit Holley.com to peruse and view for yourself and be SURE to tell them that we sent you!

K&F Show Summary: Movie Review: In honor of the Masters PGA Tournament we bring you our review of the best automotive golf move starring Adam Sandler known to man; Happy Gilmore. Think of it like Billy Madison, but it’s about golf, has Apollo Creed in it, and stars a ’74 Duster with a sweet aftermarket sunroof! Happy Gilmore is a man who wished he was a hockey player and who was raised by his grandmother after his mother ran out of him and his dad was killed by an errant hockey puck. While his hockey dream would never become a reality, the slapshot he mastered would help him to become a long drive golf hero of the common man. It would also somehow get him beat up by Bob Barker, host of “The Price is Right!” Aside from the slapstick humor, this also gave us the chance to do a deep dive on A-Body MOPARS and investigate the magic “1973 and newer” front disc brake swap phenomenon that changed MOPAR humanity as we know it. All credit goes to Happy! 10 Corndogs!

K&F Show #254: The REAL Story of the Wheelstander General Lee; Kibbe Suspended (For One Show)!

Presented with Holley! It’s time to look forward to spring break. How about April 28-30 in Las Vegas at Holley LS Fest West?? If an LS based (or current generation LT V8) engine is powering your ride or if you are considering a swap to LS power, this is your event! Friends, after the debacle in the February Patreon Show our man Corndog put Kibbe on suspension for one single show. Luckily it was with full pay, full benefits, and zero accountability. Kibbe will be back next week! In the meantime, as many of you have requested, pull up a chair around Uncle Corndog to hear the REAL story of the Wheelstander General Lee, built by Richard Sephton at the tail end of the filming of the Dukes of Hazzard TV series. This is the REAL story of the car….and is a little different than what you hear recently on the VinWiki YouTube channel.

Movie Review: Planes, Trains, and Automobiles!

The KF Show is off at SEMA 2022 this week! That’s good news though, because we’ll come back with plenty of stories and content for you. In the mean time we are kicking off the month of November with a “re-run” of our famous review of Planes, Trains, and Automobiles!

So here’s the thing – when it comes to a Thanksgiving themed highly quotable slapstick-yet-tearjerker movie to review there’s really only one that is worthy of doing so for: Planes, Trains & Automobiles. Let’s admit it – John Hughes plus Steve Martin plus John Candy equals perfection. And yes, before you even say it, we have reviewed this movie years before with Finnegan (Episode 51) in fact. And yes…it was so funny then that, like this movie, it’s worth a repeat of because it’s as timeless as it gets….plus the re-enactment of the “you play with your balls” scene was pretty epic!

Better yet….the entire second hour on Patreon (www.patreon.com/kfshow) does a deeper dive on the car, the quotes, the unaired plot points that explained so much more, and another movie re-enactment of the most famous scene in the movie. You know the one….those aren’t pillows!

Kick back and enjoy – and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Just click here, become a supporter, and be ready for a once-a-month dose of only-for-insiders happiness that’ll knock your socks off. Visit http://www.patreon.com/kfshow and experience the joy that awaits you!

Rob here. Mike is out this week, and when plans change suddenly it’s time to go with what you know best; a great pull from the archives! This episode features Mike’s first appearance on The Muscle Car Place in 2015 (Episode 254).

I didn’t know Mike very well at the time but asked if he’d be interested in telling his story of the birth of Roadkill for a feature interview – and he said yes! For those of you who want to know how Roadkill happened, why he moved out of California, etc., this is the full sout-to-nuts story. It was a one-in-a-million happenstance set up by the coming switch to digital content, good talent, an early deal from YouTube, and the pure genius of David Freiburger. Listen in to hear how it all happened.

MOVIE REVIEW: This is normally where we sum up the gift of the movie or Dukes of Hazzard episode that we had reviewed. This time though, we’ll focus on both Finnegan’s new Charger as well as the movie because they seemingly go hand in hand. On the one side you have a 1968 Dodge Charger that was configured to run in NASCAR in 1970….but it was never raced due to financial woes of the owner. On the other side you have galactic superheroes Han and Chewie…er, I mean, Lonestar and Barf cruising the galaxy in search for a solution to their financial woes. With the Charger, Finnegan can barley fit in the car without wearing a helmet, much less with one. With Spaceballs, Rick Moranis wore a helmet 24 inches in diameter that he could filter coffee through. And mutually, the both require a knock off version of “The Force” to make magic happen. 10 Corndogs all around!

If you made it this far, check out KFSHOWShirts.com to get yourself a Kibbe and Finnegan Show t-shirt – and the hoodies are back! They’re awesome and all proceeds go to support the people and Dodge Chargers that make this show happen. Thanks for listening and supporting!

K&F Show #62: Finnegan’s New Dirt Track Charger and Our Review of The Blues Brothers

Guess what? Thanks to you our favorite razor company of all time (and that we BOTH use and are customers of) is back! Harry’s Razors. Want to give it a try, and support the show? Claim your FREE TRIAL and go to http://Harrys.com/KAFS right now!

This K&F show features a plethora of both witty and banter, as well as both kinds of country music: country and western. Why, you ask? Because we reviewed the Blue Brothers instead of the Dukes this week. Luckily for us all, it still resulted in slap stick humor and flying Mopars with cop shocks, cop tires, and a 440 mill built before catalytic converters. Everything you need is in this movie: amazing blues music, zany 110 mph car chases, and sentences that always end in a one liner: 3 orange whips! Carrie Fischer is in this one too – and Jabba the Hut’s outfit had nothing on how she looks in this movie.

K&F Show #61: Corndog’s Full Blown Spectacular: How to Return a Screen Used, Jumped, and Cut Up General Lee to Full Glory

This episode is thankfully, graciously, and mercifully sponsored by the super sweet, saavy, and thrifty people at Bombfell. Bombfell is the genius company that lets you buy great fashion, all online, all with the help of a stylist. Looking good AND avoiding the store has never been easier, and you can return if if you don’t like it. We both tried it, and as hard as it is to think we could ever look better…we did! Check it out and let us know what you think. Visit BOMBFELL.COM/KAFS to get started browsing with our $25 discount! Thank YOU for supporting us!

Finnegan had the flu for this episode and could not leave the toilet long enough to record a show. He gave it the ‘ol college try though. And then he returned to the ‘ol toilet. As such, we brought in Corndog to pinch hit and discuss the restoration of his screen used (and jumped) General Lee as well as review this week’s Dukes of Hazzard episode. He’s literally restoring what’s left of his car (basically the cab of the car) back to full Charger status, to it’s TV configuration, and he’s doing it with original parts that he collected from a dumpster. Several dumpsters. A plethora of dumpsters, you might say. (None of that was a joke). Listen and learn. Also, we never made it to that Dukes review though because (basically) Corndog’s OCD love of all things screen used General Lee took over. I couldn’t stop it, nor did I try. That would be like asking a flower not to bloom or a bird not to sing, right? -Kibbe

Still reading? Thank God. Here’s another plug for something. Check out KFSHOWShirts.com to get yourself a Kibbe and Finnegan Show t-shirt. They’re awesome and all proceeds go to support the people that make this show happen. And now it also goes to the General Lee improvement fund. The General likes the speed parts! Thanks for listening and supporting!

K&F Show #60: The Return of Hughie Hogg – S3 Episode 18 of the Dukes of Hazzard

DUKES REVIEW: For this show, it’s all about a new story for an old bad guy. Do you remember who Hughie Hogg is? Hughie is Boss Hogg’s nephew who is effectively a younger, greedier version of Boss. Boss brings him into town from time to time to get his help framing the Dukes, pull heists, and groom him for future evil deeds. Now you’re up to speed. This episode mostly revolves around Hughie tricking Boss into giving him all of his possessions in order to avoid an IRS audit. As soon as Hughie has everything he wanted he renames the town after himself and establishes a world that kind of resembles that one time in Back to the Future II when Biff was powerful in the alternate 1985. Maybe that’s a stretch here, but this is a tough episode to write a witty summary of. Anyway, the IRS audit was just a ruse set up by Hughie in the first place, hijinks ensue, and then the Dukes have to help Boss get out of the mess by working together with he and Rosco. Happy Gilmore’s Grandma has a role in here too. (Really).

As mentioned in this episode, Kibbe’s new baseball tee is coming to Kickstarter on Feb 27 2018! It took years to get here, but it’s finally here. Check out the details and signup for earlybird Kickstarter pricing at http://www.magictee.io
