K&F Movie Summary:

Two kids who have lost their dad to tragedy are on the very edge of tragedy themselves…the tragedy of not believing! Teddy the older brother is turning to crime, and Katy the younger sister is innocent. They catch Santa in the act at their house, jump in his sleigh, scare the bejesus out of him, lose the reindeer and the presents, crash the sleigh, steal a red 2009 Dodge Challenger, jump it, end up in jail, then a chop shop, and then have to get it all back together by Christmas morning or the world explodes. Even worse, during the chaos they also lost Santa’s magic hat, which is the think that makes the sleigh fly! At the end though they make it just in time to Save Christmas and Santa finally reveals (in the coolest of Kurt Russell moves) that the hat was a ruse. As Santa Claus himself could (of course) fly the whole time and the whole crazy night was to show Teddy – who was suffering from the loss of his dad – how regain the belief in something himself, and something far bigger. If you’re only in it for the cars, the Challenger shines wonderfully. We believe Four Star Motorsports did the prep….and we THINK we have identified the Canadian stunt driver too!

PERFECT 10 LITTLE DEBBIE CHRISTMAS TREE CAKES RATING.

K&F Show #266: Kowalski, First and Last; Our Full Review of Vanishing Point (1971) with Greg Hagemann!!

Presented with Holley! Holley makes everything it seems including the most needed – AND NECESSARY – component of the modern Dodge Challenger; the pistol grip shifter! For those of you with an automatic or manual car just looking to swap the knob, you can (and it’s not a lot of $$ either). If you have a manual transmission car and would like to upgrade to a short throw with a pistol grip, you can do that too!

KF Show Summary: If there is a car movie more cultish than the original 1971 film “Vanishing Point,” we don’t know about it. This is the movie that listeners have requested we review for years and for absolutely no reason it’s just never happened. Until now. With the recent passing of Kowalski himself (actor Barry Newman) we decided the time had come to give it it’s due. The thing is, of our trio none of us was really a hard core fanatic of the movie. We all had seen it at least once, but that was about it. Thankfully Greg Hagemann, our expert from the KF Patreon gang, stepped up to help…..and then just took over so we wouldn’t screw it up. He knew the movie inside and out and was armed with facts for days about the artistic side of the movie as well as the nerdy automotive side. He even owns and drives a “modern” Kowalski Challenger to back up his street cred. 10 Dogs.

TMCP #529: Ask Rick – New Year 2023! Ken Block Memories, Pickup Truck Restoration Market Growth, Return on Investment Cars

Happy New Year and welcome to 2023! It is once again time to talk with Rick about the burning questions of New Year’s goals, blue chip muscle cars, and the best the restoration market will continue to grow (likely trucks). Unfortunately, as most of you have likely already heard, the death of Ken Block is where the initial focus of this episode is dedicated. Ken left a legacy in our work akin to Dale Earnhardt in some way, and he defined the pursuit of passion. He had two entirely different careers in founding DC Shoes and Hoonigan, and he is one person who will always leave an impression on all of us who are following in his footsteps. In the end though, he was a man who had a wife and three children, all of whom are now without him. Our sincere condolences and prayers go out to all of them.
