Need a generally cool shirt? Yes yes yes!

Guess what? We have a new shirt…and it features an actual jumping car and everything! If you would like to support the show in a really tangible way (i.e. to buy something), please consider purchasing one. We chose the best American Apparel super-cuddly shirt as the base, and the design is a one-off by our own pal Kirk. Visit KFSHOWSHIRTS.COM to pick one up!

Dukes Review – S4E5: “The Fugitive”

Ah, the repeating tale of a foxy co-ed trying to make her way through the south by selling t-shirts to raise money for her nursing school tuition. It’s a tale as old as time. Throw in a car jump here and there, a motocross, and a motorcycle chop-shop and it makes for a very entertaining Dukes episode. The foxy chick, who we’ll refer to as Starbuck’s girlfriend for now, witnesses Boss Hogg’s scheme of stealing, repainting, and re-selling motorcycles. The Dukes accidentally rescue her, and then purposefully help her prove her innocence using a serious stash of red form fitting t-shirts, 2-stroke dirt bikes, and a legitimate amount of tomfoolery. And the General Lee does something too. You’ll mostly be distracted by the t-shirts in this one.

Corndog’s Insider Dukes of Hazzard Episode Specific Nerd Trivia:

3:02 – At the beginning of the episode, when they were going around stealing motorcycles, stuntmen Henry Kengi was driving the box truck and Al Wyatt was loading up the bikes..

11:45 – When Cletus has “all the roads in Hazzard County blocked”, and he is standing next to his car… if you pay close attention to the car, you can see how crudely repaired the cars actually are. The rear door was replaced with one from a different model car… you can tell because the moldings do not even come close to lining up. Plus, the body side moldings were painted over numerous times.

23:10 – On the scene where there construction worker has to keep going down inside the man-hole, to avoid being ran over by a passing car… this was veteran stuntman, Jerry Summers. Jerry started doing stunts in the 50’s on westerns but some of his better known credits, besides the Dukes, was The Rockford Files, Dirty Mary Crazy Larry, Blazing Saddles, Hawaii Five-O, Gunsmoke, Bonanza, etc. An interesting fact about Jerry… being a professional stunt man, he wanted to have a personalized license plate on his every day driver. Since a stunt man was also commonly referred to as a “Fall Guy”, that is the license plate he decided to get. Fast forward to 1981 when 20th Century Fox decided to start a new TV show about a stunt man / bounty hunter… Jerry was actually paid for the rights to use his license plate on the show.

During the scene where Mindy Lou was laying down on the back seat of the General Lee, you could see that the vinyl paint was peeling off the seat. All of the cars looked to have a very dark interior on this episode. I’m not sure if it was just a batch of very dark interior cars… or if it was something to do with the lighting throughout the episode.

A while back, I contacted Laurette Spang (who played Mindy Lou), and asked if she happened to have any behind-the-scenes photos from this episode. She said that it was one of her favorite roles to play, but sadly, she didn’t even think to get pictures from the set… but wished that she would have. She even told me that she was actually pregnant with her son during filming.

The majority of the scenes with the dirt bikes were done by the 2nd unit crew Jack Gill and Craig Baxley Sr. There was quite a bit of recycled footage on this episode. We even see some footage from season 1, when an AMC police car drives by. The General didn’t even make an appearance until 20min into the episode. For that reason… and the lack of there being much 2nd unit material, I give this episode a 6.

Dream Board Update: Goals to Accomplish Before Episode 200

rob_ferrari_dietcokesponsorship
Coca Cola Corporation take note. This is how awesome sponsoring our show would be. Even when driving Ferrari F-430 race prepped track cars Kibbe can only think about how refreshing a Diet Coke would be.

1. Get Diet Coke to Sponsor us….or just Kibbe. FAILED

2. Be characters in the Disney/Pixar movie, Cars 3. Finnegan is the General. Kibbe…is wishing he was the General. FAILED.

3. Syndicate the show onto TV and radio, having awesome guests in studio, with Dale Earnhardt Jr. on regularly to be our best friend.

4. Get John Schneider himself on the show with us. Pray to God he actually likes us and isn’t freaked out. FAILED

5. Blow up the podcast so that it becomes a regular weekly show, interviewing celebrities, and actually providing a living for us capable of allowing us to race cars anytime we want plus let our wives get the shoes they like.

6. Get our own studio.

7. We each get a General Lee (real car – not a toy). Kibbe has one!

8. Get a Voiceover Guy to announce the segments.

9. Jump a car together. Kibbe wants to go 30-feet vertical.

10. Make a Dream GL that is based off of a 1973 NASCAR Charger (like the 1/16th scale AMT model)

11. Kibbe needs a new wallet to replace his “George Costanza”.

12. Mike to get a new truck for legit towing. DONE!
