KF Show 47:

Witty Banter = Girl Scout Cookies and Avoiding Politics

So, the format of this show has basically become this:  Witty Banter + Funny Segment + Dukes (or Movie Review) = K&F. Sometimes the Witter Banter runs short, and sometimes in runs long, and sometimes it just runs around trying to avoid politics to stick with silly shenanigans. This is one of those episodes. Bernie the producer made us do it.

And in this episode…Rosco gets married. For about 10 minutes. Image: Warner Bros

Dukes of Hazzard S3E8: Mrs Rosco P Coltrane

K&F Show Summary:

There comes a time in every mans life when he must head out into the world to make his own name, claim his fortune, and find his wife. In the case of Rosco P Coltrane he got to attempt one of those for about 10 minutes before it blew up on him. Some bad guys set up a scam to trick lonely small town Sheriff’s into marrying their pretty lady cohort, only so the afore mentioned bad guys can rob the bank while she, the Sheriff, and the entire town are at their fake wedding. We know, you saw it coming. Everyone saw it coming. Anyway, the Dukes get blamed for the bad stuff, help save the day for Rosco anyway, and the day resets for the next episode like Groundhog’s Day. The General Lee stunts in this are epic.

Legit Show Info:

Season 3 – Episode 8 “Mrs Rosco P Coltrane”
Airdate: 12/12/80
Written by Si Rose
Directed by Jack Whitman

Corndog’s Super Insider Analysis:

In the opening scene, you can clearly tell that this is Al Wyatt Jr. driving the General Lee down the bumpy road.

The famous General Lee poster! Image: Warner Bros

– 2:20 – When Bo and Luke are run off the road and flip the General Lee, I never heard who the stunt driver was. If the jump looks familiar, then maybe you remember the popular General Lee poster that was sold back in the 80’s. This is the same jump.

This scene was actually shot twice. The General Lee was intended to hit the pipe ramp on the passenger side and flip the car over on it’s top. Instead, on the first take… the car centered the pipe ramp, making it more like a typical jump ramp, except with a harder impact. If you look at the screen shots on the jump car, the center of the front valance panel is caved in. When you compare this to the screen shots of the car that is flipping over, the center of the front valance panel is straight… for the most part.

Since the camera cuts away between the car jumping.. and flipping… it was always hard to tell if this was done in only one shot. But, if you recall… on the 1997 Reunion movie, they recycle old footage from the same stunt. This time, the footage was from a different angle, and it was uncut. The footage used in the Reunion was from the second attempt, when the car actually flips over. I have attached a couple screen shots from the ’97 Reunion, as well as a couple behind-the-scenes pictures of the flipped General Lee after the stunt. Notice the blue glass pack mufflers. These were commonly used on the General Lees.

– 4:40 – When Rosco walks into his office to see Sue Ann, notice that his door is labeled “Roscoe P. Coltrane”… and Rosco is spelt with an “e”. This was a common mistake throughout the series. I forgot to mention it in the last episode “Baa, Baa, White Sheep”, but when Luke pulls up to Rosco’s house to get Flash, the camera zooms in close to Rosco’s mailbox. You can clearly see where the “e” was removed.

– 8:54 – When Rosco’s mother brings him lunch, notice that the “e” is no longer on the door.

– 29:55 – When Bo and Luke pull up to the police station, you’ll notice that the car is very beat up. Judging by the damage, this appears to be the same car that was jumped off the pipe ramp… in the first attempt. For whatever reason, at the 30:52 mark, when the bad guys approach the car, it appears to have been switched out for a different car with even more damage. Actually, this is the same car… except the damage was from later on in the episode, when Bo drives the car into the back of the flatbed truck that was parked on the side of the road (33:00).

– 45:15 – When Bo is driving Rosco’s police car, this car was driven by Jack Gill. Attached are screen shots of the jump as well as behind-the-scene pictures of the stunt.

Dream Board Update: Goals to Accomplish Before Episode 200

rob_ferrari_dietcokesponsorship

Coca Cola Corporation take note. This is how awesome sponsoring our show would be. Even when driving Ferrari F-430 race prepped track cars Kibbe can only think about how refreshing a Diet Coke would be.

1. Get Diet Coke to Sponsor us….or just Kibbe. FAILED

2. Be characters in the Disney/Pixar movie, Cars 3. Finnegan is the General. Kibbe…is wishing he was the General. FAILED.

3. Syndicate the show onto TV and radio, having awesome guests in studio, with Dale Earnhardt Jr. on regularly to be our best friend.

4. Get John Schneider himself on the show with us. Pray to God he actually likes us and isn’t freaked out.

5. Blow up the podcast so that it becomes a regular weekly show, interviewing celebrities, and actually providing a living for us capable of allowing us to race cars anytime we want plus let our wives get the shoes they like.

6. Get our own studio.

7. We each get a General Lee (real car – not a toy).

8. Get a Voiceover Guy to announce the segments.

9. Jump a car together. Kibbe wants to go 30-feet vertical.

10. Make a Dream GL that is based off of a 1973 NASCAR Charger (like the 1/16th scale AMT model)

11. Kibbe needs a new wallet to replace his “George Costanza”.

12. Mike to get a new truck for legit towing. DONE!
