hi
This VERY famous jump was made in episode S2E9 of the Dukes of Hazzard. It would be played in each and every episode going forward…for the longer show commercial break that played half way through the show! Waylon Jennings would announce the famous statement saying: “The Dukes of Hazzard will continue.” It’s also a real ’69 Charger R/T, which today fetches $50,000. Image Credit: Warner Bros.

Dukes of Hazzard S2 E9: Witness for the Persecution

K&F Show Summary:

The Dukes do a favor for the Federal Government by housing and protecting Boss Hogg….from the Mob? Yes indeed. Boss has information to testify against somebody for some reason, that person is really really bad, and the Dukes spend the entire episode pampering him and protecting him from two very serious hitmen that attempt to kill everyone and their mother with sniper rifles. Somehow Boss also ends up in bed with Daisy, after a long scene of her spent undressing (seriously – it’s at the 21:20 mark of the show). Cooter drinks moonshine and eats donuts for breakfast. The General makes a famous jump. Hijinks ensue.

Legit Show Info:

Season 3 – Episode 9 “Witness for the Persecution”
Airdate: 11/16/79
Written by William Raynor and Myles Wilder
Story by Paul Savage
Directed by Hollingsworth Morse

Interesting Tidbits:

-The bad guys take the same jump into the lake that nearly killed Bo and Luke three episodes ago (Ghost of General Lee).

-The opening jump is the one that would be used over and over again – do you know where? In the commercial break segment that would run at the show half way point!

-There’s a scene where they slide the General 90 degrees into Cooters Garage. We think it’s really John Schneider driving!

Corndog’s Super Insider Analysis:

1:58 – ’69 RT jumped in the opening scene. You can see this car had a skid plate under the engine/trans. This car also had a full cage and the two stunt men were wearing helmets. When you see a different car used for the take-off, it was not an RT and you can clearly see the stuntmen were not wearing helmets.

2:28 & 3:53 – These are the first good, clear shots of a close up General Lee’s engine bay. You can see that the car had a big block with A/C and everything looks to have been left stock with the exception of a fresh black paint job. Later in the series, the close up cars has chrome air cleaner, valves covers, bright colored plug wires, chrome hood hinges, chrome upper grill latch panel, etc.

6:50 – Uncle Jesse and Boss Hogg reference Mississippi… which I thought was kinda cool. Jesse said he thought Boss was in Biloxi foreclosing on a poor widow lady’s soy bean farm. Biloxi is actually pronounced “Bih-LUCK-see”… but they pronounce it “Bih-LOCK-see”. Anyways, Biloxi is is a Gulf Coast city and I’m not sure how well a soy beam farm would prosper down there.

-About 3/4 of the way through the episode when everyone is outside the farmhouse, and Boss is kicked back under a shade tree… Bo and Luke are working under the hood of the General. You will see this is a different car from earlier. This car does not have a fresh coat of black paint and a chrome air cleaner.

-At the end of the episode, when Jesse Duke was awarded a certificate, Waylon mentions that Jesse’s name was misspelled. It was spelled “Jessie”. If I had to bet, I would say the prop department accidentally misspelled it, it wasn’t caught until final editing,… and that’s where Waylon comes in to save the day and is able smooth things over.

Dream Board Update: Goals to Accomplish Before Episode 200

rob_ferrari_dietcokesponsorship
Coca Cola Corporation take note. This is how awesome sponsoring our show would be. Even when driving Ferrari F-430 race prepped track cars Kibbe can only think about how refreshing a Diet Coke would be.

1. Get Diet Coke to Sponsor us….or just Kibbe.

2. Be characters in the Disney/Pixar movie, Cars 3. Finnegan is the General. Kibbe…is wishing he was the General.

3. Syndicate the show onto TV and radio, having awesome guests in studio, with Dale Earnhardt Jr. on regularly to be our best friend.

4. Get John Schneider himself on the show with us. Pray to God he actually likes us and isn’t freaked out.

5. Blow up the podcast so that it becomes a regular weekly show, interviewing celebrities, and actually providing a living for us capable of allowing us to race cars anytime we want plus let our wives get the shoes they like.

6. Get our own studio.

7. We each get a General Lee (real car – not a toy).

8. Get a Voiceover Guy to announce the segments.

9. Jump a car together. Kibbe wants to go 30-feet vertical.

10. Make a Dream GL that is based off of a 1973 NASCAR Charger (like the 1/16th scale AMT model)

11. Kibbe needs a new wallet to replace his “George Costanza”.

12. Mike to get a new truck for legit towing. DONE!
