You already know that a real-deal 1966 Pontiac GTO convertible like this is a rare machine. So when you see it in the best color combo with an upgraded V8 heart, well then it's time to get excited.

There's just something about a red GTO that gets your enthusiast heart pumping. This is a later application that just had a professional dealing, so you get a great gloss on this sunshine-friendly droptop. Plus,1966 is arguably the best year because it combines much of the original muscle car spirit with a few extra curves in the sheetmetal. You have to love that Coke-bottle profile, and because everyone else does, too, this droptop makes the scene just for showing up. The subtle hood scoop hints at the power underneath, and the big bright chrome bumpers are great reminders of Pontiac's wide track design. This one has all the right factory pieces, right down to the badging. But there are also some cool upgrades that tell you they paid attention to details. After all, the high-polish Cragar SS wheels are period-correct icons. Also, there's great color coordination in everything from the redline tires, to the full-length black pinstripe that matches the crisp folding roof.

If you like the way the black roof looks against the red, then with the flip of a switch, you'll love how it powers down to reveal a full black interior. Pontiac nailed the inside design of the GTO in every way: comfortable, sporty, and refined, with just a hint of European sophistication. This complete package made the GTO an adult's sports car, and the comfortable bucket seats w/matching door panels and bright center console all work towards that end. The round gauge package is always a nice sporty touch, especially when this and all the other period-correct pieces are set in a woodgrain panel. There are great original touches like the factory AM/FM radio on display and provisions for factory air conditioning. And the tach on the hood is absolutely iconic. But you'll also like thoughtful upgrades like the cleanly installed auxiliary gauges and an AM/FM/CD stereo hidden away in the glovebox that give you modern tunes in this vintage atmosphere.

The engine bay looks quite stock with the corporate turquoise engine paint on the block, wide polished air topper, and matching polished valve covers. But this motor is harboring a secret. It's actually an ultra-hot 400 cubic-inch Ram Air III motor available in later GTOs. So it's a larger displacement and hotter cam than stock. This performance V8 inhales deeply with a four-barrel carburetor, and the dual exhaust gives it a great American growl. And more than just powerful, this is a fine cruiser, too. That means a three-speed automatic transmission and power brakes, as well as recent investments in new upper & lower control arm bushings, gas shocks, and a close ratio steering box for the power steering.

Complete with PHS (Pontiac Historic Services) documentation, this is bold GTO that has plenty of power and poise. So you know this is the hot one you need to get your hands on now. Call today!!!
