This real-deal 1969 Dodge Dart GTS was already quite a speedy machine straight from the factory with its 383ci V8. But that original motor was put in a crate (it comes with the sale) to make way from something even more powerful. Now this hot red coupe has a performance-built 440 motor with nitrous to propel this lightweight classic with some serious muscle.

This generation of the Dart is where the legend was solidified. The Dodge Boys gave some pretty mean styling to their compact offering. The chiseled front-end, a louvered hood, and a classic hardtop have instant muscle car appeal. Plus, the way the taillights are stretched to the edges and D-O-D-G-E is so widely spaced, it gives this compact the look like it owns the road. That gave the top-trim GTS cars great looks to back up their big motors. Add in the terrific modern shine of the vivid red paint, form-hugging chrome bumpers, and upgraded 15-inch American Racing Torq Thrust wheels, and this is a mean machine with a lot of look-at-me attitude.

The GTS was the range-topping trim for the Dart, and so it's great to see a loaded interior. Bucket seats with a wood paneling center console is a great way to get both comfort and a premium appearance. And it all remains period-correct, right down to the AM radio. With the black on the seats, door panels, headliner, and carpeting in such nice and dark condition, this one really lets its performance mission be known. Of course, it also helps that you get all the right features, too. The wood-rimmed three-spoke sports steering wheel feels great in your hands. And the dual set of tachs (one on the steering column and one on the center console) really lets you know there's something special under the hood.

As we had mentioned before, the big factory 383 cubic-inch V8 was not big enough for this red-hot machine, but lovers of originality get it with the sale. But lovers of performance will get weak in the knees when they see the bold red block of the upgraded 440 cubic-inch filling the engine bay. More than just huge displacement, this big block is fortified for speed with 10.2:1 pistons, 906 heads, and a Comp Cams 272 hydraulic camshaft. This coupe has been enhanced further with go-fast goodies like a Holley 850 CFM double-pumper four-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock performance intake. Oh yeah, you're looking at a seriously powerful Mopar. That's why the stout Torqueflight A727 now has a Cheetah manual valve body to allow you to take full control of the three-speed transmission. All this power feeds a limited slip rear end with versatile 3.23 gears. And as you look at the undercarriage photos, you can see the upgrades also included a thick sway bar up front, newer bushings, and a coilover rear end.

Complete with a copy of the original factory buildsheet, you're looking at a rare Dart GTS that's quite clean and very mean. It's hard not to get excited about a muscle machine like this. But if you admire it for too long, it might just be gone. So don't miss out, call today!
