There was a day not too long ago when you could drive a car to the track race competitively and drive it home at the end of the day. With the march of technology and performance that is no longer the case. Or is it? This 2003 Corvette Z06 is one of those rare exceptions: a fully-prepped track car that's still street-legal. And oh boy is it a party on wheels! The car was professionally built and prepped for the rigors of the track and as a result it's not exactly a friendly street car but it will still happily slog through traffic without complaint. The exterior still looks pretty stock which is how most classes prefer it and even as a track machine the Electric Blue paint still looks fantastic. The fixed roof coupe bodywork was designed to be lighter and stiffer than the regular coupe perfect for a track rat like this and with the Z06's upgrades it's the ideal choice. It doesn't appear that this car has ever had major cosmetic work and the owner has even refrained from covering it in sponsorship decals giving it a very street-like look that will make the competition underestimate this car every time. Features like the mesh grilles up front and the functional rear brake cooling ducts were standard equipment on the Z06 and they work even better on the track than on the street. And perhaps most importantly if you play it cool with the loud pedal most folks won't know they're sitting next to a race car at the red light which is entirely the point. Inside however it's an entirely different world. Like I said this isn't exactly a luxury car now that it's been stripped down and leaned out for competition. Corbeau FX1 race seats with adjustable brackets Schroth harnesses and a Sparco steering wheel are hardcore evidence of this car's mission. There's a 4-point roll bar behind the seats and every single piece that didn't make the car go faster was jettisoned. That means no A/C no heater no stereo and very little sound deadening material; you know a race car. On the other hand the stock Corvette gauges are actually quite good the B&M Ripper shifter give the 6-speed gearbox lightning-quick reflexes and the wiring was all professionally re-routed to keep it safely out of harm's way. Remarkably it still has full door panels with power windows locks and mirrors and yes there are windshield wipers too. The engine is the Z06's LS6 all-aluminum V8 tweaked and tuned as far as the rules will allow. For reliability it carries bigger accessory pulleys a Katech tensioner and a massive Ron Davis radiator with built-in oil cooler. But other than a Vararam induction setup it's standard LS6 equipment so it's also reliable docile and starts almost instantly every time. The transmission is a Level IV Tremec T56 from RPM Performance augmented with an LS7 clutch flywheel and slave cylinder. Remarkably the exhaust system appears mostly stock but admittedly the Z06 had titanium mufflers which is probably pretty hard to beat. The suspension offers a PFADT Aggressor II setup with coil-overs competition Pfatt sway bars polyurethane bushings and a camber shim kit all finished with a competition alignment from RUF Porsche in Addison TX. Brakes are stock-ish wearing slotted rotors stainless lines and Hawk performance pads all around. It comes with two sets of rolling stock original Z06 rims with Hoosier R-compound tires and C6 Z06 replicas painted black and carrying Nitto street rubber just in case. This is an insanely competent car that isn't for the inexperienced driver. Fully documented with receipts and other paperwork it is a car that can take you back to those glory days when you could simply get in and race. Call today!
