Description

Now THIS is how you build a trick resto-mod. Keep everything that's great about a 1967 Mustang fastback and subtly upgrade it in ways that improve performance and comfort without diluting its essential Mustang-ness. A slam-dunk in every possible way this pony is ready to play! From the smooth billet grille to the custom Shelby-style stripes this fastback screams performance. And if you're going to drive a big flashing advertisement for speed like this you'd better be sure it's right because all eyes will be on you. As a result the bodywork is spectacular and the quality jumps out at you right away. Just sight down one of those quarter panels and you'll see crisp reflections staring back at you. The doors line up just so and the hood fits right. The only possible demerit is a tiny misalignment of the deck lid but even from the factory that piece was tricky to get right. The paint is called Super Sonic Blue and it glows like it's radioactive or something especially when the sun's going down and the light's hitting it just right. And while the stripes may look familiar they've been rendered in satin silver not white to put a trick twist on a classic look. That billet grille gives it a smooth look up front and a few of the badges have been shaved but there's no question what this car is which probably speaks loudly of its status as an icon. During the build the interior was completely gutted and fitted with sound-dampening materials in the doors trunk and floors so it's hushed inside. Everything that went on top of it was new including the carpets custom black and silver door panels and the custom-upholstered buckets with black leather and pony graphics. The original instruments were artfully replaced with Auto Meter gauges that fit perfectly in the original housings and are likely vastly more accurate. A powerful 300-watt Alpine AM/FM/CD/iPod stereo system was stuffed into the dash and fits like it was built by the factory. There's also a fat wood-rimmed Grant steering wheel that could almost pass for an original. The trunk was also fully restored and includes a correct mat and spare tire cover. The engine is a fresh 289 installed in 2009. Upgrades include An Edelbrock intake Holley carburetor MSD ignition and a set of beautiful ceramic-coated long-tube headers. The engine is covered in Ford Blue paint and at first glance it looks a lot like the bodywork which is kind of a cool touch. Custom '289' finned aluminum valve covers are a retro touch that looks right at home in this vintage Mustang. A heavy-duty cooling system manages the BTUs and a fresh Optima battery fires the whole thing up. It's backed by a C4 3-speed automatic and a 9-inch rear so the powertrain's bulletproof. Disc brakes were added up front along with a new front suspension with Grab-Trak springs and new shocks all around. Cherry bomb mufflers sound downright wicked with the snarky small block and it sits on classic Torque Thrusts and 15-inch Michelin radials. With some modest celebrity ownership (Dolly Parton's drummer) restoration receipts and impeccable build quality this is a resto-mod that hits all the right notes. Call today!
