Description

Is the 1961 Corvette the ultimate expression of the straight-axle design? Combining the classic side cove with a future glimpse of the Sting Ray's rump this 1961 Corvette will make you smile every time you see it. This Ermine White Corvette simply oozes class and sophistication. Combined with Sateen Silver side coves beautiful body work and all that glittering chrome it has become far more than just an American sports car. It is proof that Corvettes really can be all things to all people and this one fits the grand touring mode perfectly. Bodywork is exemplary with none of the usual issues associated with early fiberglass and when the final product comes together this nice it begs to be enjoyed. Detailing is crisp with gaps that are likely better than new and sharp body lines that took extra care to preserve during the extensive block sanding sessions. C1s are wonderful because of their chrome truly products of their time and every bit of jewelry on this roadster has been buffed polished or re-plated. 1961 was also the final year for contrasting side coves (a $16.15 option) and it really does make all the difference. The interior is a delightful contrast to the Ermine White and Jewel Blue is one of the less common colors in 1961. Restored several years ago only the driver's seat shows any signs of use and even at that it's quite minor. The carpets look virtually new the door panels have been skillfully duplicated and come complete with the bright trim. All the gauges were rebuilt at the time of restoration including a correct 7000 RPM tachometer all visible through the spokes of the European-inspired steering wheel. The Wonderbar AM radio works as it should and for those of you wondering what the gear in the trunk might be it's the mechanism for the $161.40 power top a very rare option for that year. And yes a matching white hardtop is included as well. Although 1961 was the final year of the 283 this Corvette now sports a GM Performance Parts 350 cubic inch V8. Rated at 260 horsepower it also comes with a 3-year/100000-mile warranty perhaps the only 1961 Corvette still available with that kind of protection. Topped by an Edelbrock intake and Holley carb it's a bulletproof powerplant which thanks to the wonders of the small block Chevy's longevity looks highly correct in the vintage roadster's engine bay. It wears proper Chevy Orange paint a shielded ignition system and an expansion tank for the cooling system so it will pass muster for the casual observer. Ram's horn manifolds and original style mufflers give it an authentic 1961 voice and since this is an original 4-speed car so you'll enjoy running up and down through the gears every chance you get. Original wheels and wheel covers are surrounded by reproduction 6.70-15 BFGoodrich Silvertown wide whites. Beautiful fun and rare with the power top option this is the Corvette you've been waiting for. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
