K&F Show #165: How Paint Scanning a General Lee REALLY Works; Dukes of Hazzard S5E15 Review “Ding, Dong, The Boss is Dead”

Holley is the official EFI source for Kibbe and Friends and is the PROUD sponsor of this episode! Congrats to Arrow West @eldest_arrow on Instagram for his recent LS swap into a ’83 Cutlass! His father Philip West @flannel_philip posted the details on Instagram, and we’re honored that they selected a Holley Terminator X system after hearing it described in our show. Way to go boys!

Dukes Review – S5E15: This episode is a clinic in what goes around, comes around. The entire show is a cartoonish version of basically the same episode from Season 2, but this time with flying coffins.  Boss still has to leap moving vehicles to convince people he’s dead. Not one, but two actors from previous episodes come back to play different characters, and the outfit the bad guy (girl) is wearing….is both sensational as well as now back in fashion (high waisted shorts with a belt.) Surprised her outfit actually stayed on, actually. Anyway, this is a repeat of a season 2 episode plot, a season 2 bad guy car, with a repeat of a season 3 set of characters, with a season 4 bad guy car. And the GL jumps a barn. It may be the best Coy and Vance episode ever.

K&F Show #164: MOPARTY Recap; Dukes of Hazzard S5E14 Review “Return of the Mean Green Machine”

Holley is the official EFI source for Kibbe and Friends and is the PROUD sponsor of this episode! Listen in for a full recap of the event including ALL of the details on Jamie Smith’s 2-wheels stunt and ramp-to-ramp jump. We’ll also have a number of interviews to bring you from Dylan McCool, Tim Wellborn, and more over on The MuscleCar Place. Here’s what you ned to know most: Gen III Hemi Swaps are THE cool thing to do! Thank you Holley!

The Mean Green Machine from Season 5 Episode 1 returns, which is a rare instance of a story arc on the Dukes. This episode….has legit – nay – GREAT – stunts in the form of two totally awesome stunts over moving vehicles. There is a reference of radio stations – which Bernie should like. There is a comically sized magnet involved that looks like something Wile E. Coyote would use. At long last, Boss Hogg finally uses a bazooka. The first time Vance Duke sees the Mean Green Machine he shoots dynamite at it. And the acting in this…..is not terrible. In fact, it’s tolerable. Cartoonishly charming, even. Chris Mayer and Byron Cherry are kind of getting into the swing of things. But, in just three episodes, they’ll be homeless and will never be mentioned again.

Dukes Review: S5E13 – The Revenge of Hughie Hogg. Once again, the Dukes have predicted the future. This entire episode reflects an election year in which the Dukes – led by family patriarch Uncle Jesse – have to decide between voting for the lesser of two evils. It has all of the moral deals we make with ourselves, complete with a campaign ad for Donald Trump and a dilapidated 4-door Impala that drops body panels on command.

K&F Show #161: Dukes Fan to Stunt Man: Interview with Stunt Driver Jamie Smith and MOPARTY Preview of His All New Crown Victoria General Lee!

Holley is the official EFI source for Kibbe and Friends and is the PROUD sponsor of this episode! As mentioned we will be onsite at their BRAND NEW MOPAR EVENT Sept 18-20 in Bowling Green. This is a SPECIAL EDITION of the KF Show! Our star producer Bernie is home from the hospital and recovering so we decided to bring in Jamie Smith for a feature interview and discuss his path to stunt driving as well as his plans for MOPARTY. Jamie was once just a Dukes of Hazzard fan like the rest of us. He was inspired to be the “two wheel ski” guy after a discussion with Gary Baxley and had the desire to see it go further. This interview is the story of teaching himself to drive on two wheels, driving “BumbleBee” in the Transformers movie, and in prepping his Crown Vic General Lee #6 for the upcoming event at MOPARTY. He’ll be there to jump his GL – twice – and ski it as well! Why does he build Crown Vic’s instead of using real Chargers? Because….he’s a fan. He doesn’t want to kill another Charger!

K&F Show #160: The All New RAM TRX – Raptor Killer? Summer Movie Fan-Vote ReRun: Smokey and the Bandit!

Summer Movie Re-Run: You asked for it and you got it! Our final Summer Move Re-run was voted on by fans….and it’s a re-run of the Kibbe and Finnegan review os Smokey and the Bandit in 2017 – KAFS Episode #31. 2017 marked the 40th anniversary of the movie so we chose to break it down in just the way you think we would: focusing on Gleason’s most inappropriate yet fantastic swear-laced-liners and talking about flying Trans Am’s. Quite frankly, without Smokey and the Bandit the Dukes of Hazzard would never have been a reality. As a total bonus, there are THREE future Dukes of Hazzard stars in this movie as well. This movie is a perfect 10 our of 10 corndogs!

K&F Show #159: Chris Holstrom – Award Winning Car Builder and COVID-19 Survivor; Dukes of Hazzard S5E12 Review “A Little Game of Pool”

Holley is the official EFI source for Kibbe and Friends and is the PROUD sponsor of this episode! As mentioned we will be onsite at their BRAND NEW MOPAR EVENT Sept 18-20 in Bowling Green. In addition they have released a brand new Gen III Hemi Sweepstakes to boot! Click on the link below to enter: https://bit.ly/Holley392-Sweepstakes

Chris Holstom: COVID-19 Survivor. Since the KF show is built around automotive and pop culture topics we decided to do a culture specific discussion with Chris Holstrom from Chris Holstrom Concepts in Seattle. Chris and his team have built award winning cars for years and he’s an awesome guy. Recently he, his wife, and his young children all were infected by COVID-19! They are on the back side of it now….and while everyone’s symptoms are different we thought it would be helpful to hear from a trusted voice on what it’s really like. Think of this as a selfish quest for information that just happens to be a public service.

Dukes Review: S5E12 – The Treasure of Soggy Marsh. Sheriff Little proves once again that the only competent lawman on this show is African American. He’s the only person that ever seems to actually catch the Dukes! The stunts are great. At the end of the show the General jumps into a pond. There might be an airboat in here somewhere. That said, after the last episode though I have emotionally moved on from the Coy and Vance era of this show. I pulled a clip of Rosco doing a sampler reel of all of his sounds. I guess that was funny….and ironically, it sums up all of the Coy and Vance episodes somehow. Meh. 4 Corndogs.

K&F Show #158: Bo’s Extravaganza Feature Interview; Dukes of Hazzard S5E11 Review “A Little Game of Pool”

Holley is the official EFI source for Kibbe and Friends and is the PROUD sponsor of this episode! Their Terminator Stealth system on my General Lee is killing it. There’s a BRAND NEW MOPAR EVENT listed on their website that you need to save the date for as well: Sept 18-20 in Bowling Green, KY. Hint – there’s a General Lee jump! https://www.moparty.com

This is the one that made the 9-year old me hate the characters of Coy and Vance. Up until now, I haven’t minded them, and even found getting softer to them. No more. Clearly, the show writers were told that this episode has one star and one star only; the General Lee. The car gets major love in the episode, so much to the fact that the words “General Lee” are spoken about 8 billion times. But then Vance went and said something the completely rubbed me the wrong way…..which I believe cemented the exit of Coy and Vance and the return of Bo and Luke. Wanna know what it is? “The General Lee is ours.” Wrong, Vance. Wrong!

K&F Show #157: Corndog’s Trip To John Schneider’s Birthday: Jumping a “Bandit” Challenger!

Corndog’s Summer Vacation: We don’t have a show review for you this month…because our man Corndog spent the previous weekend at John Schneider’s 3rd annual birthday bash. The event was postponed from April until now (due to the COVID-19), but as was the case last year the feature part of the event involved jumping a car – on film – for an upcoming project. John is filming a Smokey and the Bandit tribute movie called “Stand On It” and the star car of that film was a modern Dodge Challenger painted black with a screaming chicken on the hood a “modified” roof to resemble T-Tops. Friend of the show Jamie Smith did the jump with Jack Gill and (as you would expect) Corndog supporting the entire endeavor. Get in line folks. We’ll all be working for Corndog someday. Enjoy!

K&F Show #156: Lyric Debate – Revved Up Like a Deuce; Dukes of Hazzard S5E10 Review “The Great Insurance Fraud”

Dukes Review: “The Great Insurance Fraud” Boss entered the second oldest profession – insurance sales. Similar in morals to the most oldest profession. If you get my drift. Anyway, a` Duke’s birthright is the ability to drive well. They can “hold their own” with anyone and they never give that up. Yet in this episode, Coy does. (Side note – Bo Duke would never have done that.) He did it because of pride – and a moral compass – but what’s interesting is this quickly turns into a theme we’ll later see be a major part of the 1986 Blockbuster movie Top Gun. Remember after Maverick kills Goose from showboating and feels super bad about it, and then Viper says to keep sending Maverick up? It ends like that. So I think Top Gun ripped off the Dukes, a Season 5 Cory and Vance episode no less.

Patreon Peeps, the year 2020 will be an important one for Patreon specifically, and we have decided to retire the $1 and $2 levels completely. If you’re still at those levels you can keep them – but if you’d consider jumping up to the $5 level it would sure help. The $10 level will remain and we now have a brand new $20 level as well! All members who join at that level will receive a sticker swag pack in the mail, you’ll be IMMEDIATELY entered in the monthly prize grab, and you’ll receive a phone call from one (or all) of us to chat up whatever you want for 30 minutes!
